View this workshop recording at your own pace for a limited time!
Open to all Vancouver Island Foster Parents, Out of Care/Kinship Caregivers, and Social Workers.
In order to be effective at helping others, there are key communication skills that are essential to understand and apply. Communicating while helping children/youth is different than our everyday communication.
In this experiential workshop, basic and advanced communication skills such as caring confrontation, empathy, reflective feeling statements and many others were explored, discussed, and practiced.
Registrants will receive an email closer to August 8th with a link to access the recording. This link will be active for the two week timeframe and registrants can play, pause, rewind, and re-watch the video as often as they wish during that time.
Ashleigh Martinflatt is a professor at Vancouver Island University, teaching in the Child and Youth Care and Social Work programs with a focus on children, youth and families.
